Rocky Mountain Region Challenge
Each year, the youth and discipleship department has a missions project supported by the fund raising efforts of youth and children's ministries. These projects have built training centers, feeding centers, orphanages, churches, and more. This year's project is taking our support back to Cota, Columbia where we support a ministry that is providing safe houses for children at risk of human trafficking.
I am issuing a challenge to our region to eclipse all previous support of this program with a huge backing. In fact, I'm praying for a miracle that we would match our total giving to YWEA from it's inception in the 60's.
So what does that mean for you? If all of our churches raised just $3000 over the next 10 months for this project, we would have surpassed all previous giving from the Rocky Mountain Region. I know that is a large number for some but I believe the cause is worthy and that with God this is possible. Though that is the big hairy audacious goal, I know that for some, this is completely new. So whatever the size of your youth and children's ministry, pray and set a goal. Schedule fund raisers, take up offerings, get creative and may a Future of Hope be planted in Cota but also in the RMR students and children who participate!
Let's make this the greatest year in the history of YWEA in the Rocky Mountain Region!
- Hans C. Weston
Director of Youth & Discipleship
What do you need to do?
1. Set a goal
2. Determine how
4. Follow up – remind people of the cause and communicate the vision often
5. Finish – turn in funds raised to the regional office marked YWEA.
We will be taking up an offering during Winterfest for this project but we want to encourage student ministries to come prepared in advance. The individual offerings will be separate but we are asking for groups to bring funds raised as a group for YWEA to registration.
The church that brings the highest amount per student (so your group size will not limit you) to Winterfest for Heart for the Homeland will receive pizza from Domino’s on Saturday night of the event.
